Over the past few years, Bam Adebayo has become one of the best frontcourt players in the NBA, as he turned into an elite two-way player and a cornerstone for the Miami Heat franchise.

Although Adebayo is in the conversation for NBA Defensive Player of the Year every single year, the Heat superstar didn’t start his career off that way, as he learned some painful lessons against one of the best players in the league at his position.

Apparently, one of those players is former NBA star and seven-time All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who put on a clinic against a young Adebayo during the beginning of his career.

Adebayo recently appeared on The OGs Show with former Heat players Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller and discussed his welcome-to-the-NBA moment, which was Aldridge dropping 41 points on him via NBA Central.

Bam Adebayo says his ‘welcome to the league’ moment was when LaMarcus Aldridge scored 41 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against him

At that time during Aldridge’s career, the former Blazers and San Antonio Spurs star was arguably among the elite players in the league, which is a tall task for a young player to guard who isn’t used to starting on the professional level.

Despite Aldridge dominating Adebayo early on during the Heat superstar’s career, the 26-year-old is doing well for himself, sharing the spotlight in Miami with fellow superstar Jimmy Butler.

With the Heat being one of the heavyweights in the Eastern Conference when healthy, it’ll be interesting to see what Adebayo and company can accomplish in the years to come, with the Boston Celtics potentially being the only team standing in their way in the conference.
