The Golden State Warriors set the standard for success around the league over the past decade or so.

Steve Kerr’s team came out of the blue to dominate the league almost at will, winning four NBA championships in six trips to the NBA Finals.

Stephen Curry needed eight seasons to match LeBron James in championships, and it seemed like he had a legitimate chance to tie Kobe Bryant.

Unfortunately for him, his team hasn’t been up to their usual standards over the past couple of seasons.

And with Klay Thompson entering free agency for the first time in his career, it seems like this could be the beginning of the end for them.

That’s how Craig Carton feels.

Talking on The Carton Show, the renowned pundit stated that it was a wrap for the Dubs.

“One of the great franchises of the last 15 years in the NBA is now a wrap.”

He argued that Thompson is no longer a good defender after all these years, which is why they cannot afford to bring him back at his current asking price.

He believes that Thompson isn’t worthy of big money anymore and that he should agree to take a significant pay cut if he wants to stay in the Bay area.

Even if Thompson stays, it’s evident that the Warriors need to make some moves to surround Curry with more talent, as well as get Jonathan Kuminga more involved in the offense.

It was an incredible run by the Warriors.

They were built, not bought, and they proved it by winning two rings without Kevin Durant.

Still, all good things come to an end.
