The Cleveland Cavaliers are heading into an important offseason where they have to make some difficult decisions regarding the roster makeup from the top down, with both the Jarrett Allen/Evan Mobley and Darius Garland/Donovan Mitchell pairings serving as questionable fits as a foundation to the franchise.

On Draft Day, all options are on the table, and the Cavs are reportedly showing interest in trading for a Brooklyn Nets veteran that is sure to become a coveted asset after yesterday’s Mikal Bridges trade.

Cavs insider Chris Fedor shared that the Cavs are expected to show interest in trading for Cam Johnson, saying that the team “loves” Johnson and could dangle the No. 20 overall pick in discussions with the Nets.

Johnson is one of the league’s best shooters and averaged 13.4 points per game last season on 39.1 percent shooting from three-point range, and at 28 years old is in the prime of his career and ready to help a contender.

Brooklyn looks to be ready to tank and it would make no sense to keep Johnson after trading Bridges, and the Cavaliers don’t have many reliable role players outside of the aforementioned stars aside from Max Strus.

Johnson would be an ideal three-and-D type and has three years of control left on the 4-year, $94.5 million extension he signed last offseason.

If Johnson is on the market, competition for his services should be fierce and the price likely won’t be cheap, but the Cavs are in win-now mode and have to start pushing their chips into the pot.
