Night one of the 2024 NBA Draft has officially concluded.
There were several storylines heading into this year’s draft that fans were keeping an eye on, including the status of Kevin Durant.
Durant was rumored to be frustrated with the Phoenix Suns, leaving some fans to believe the team would potentially work up a trade on draft night.
Not only did a trade not happen on the first night of the draft, but Suns owner, Mat Ishbia, set the story straight on Twitter.
After talking about the rumors that can happen during the draft, he said, “Phoenix loves Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant loves Phoenix, and we are competing for a championship this year because we have the team to do it.”
NBA Draft night is the best. Everyone talking about the drama and storylines, some are right and some are just wrong.
My turn. Phoenix loves Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant loves Phoenix, and we are competing for a championship this year because we have the team to do it. Gotta…

Ishbia was frustrated with the reports he was seeing with Durant, and instead of beating around the bush, he attacked these rumors head-on.
He wanted to make it clear that Durant is sticking around, at least for one more year, which will hopefully quell a lot of these rumors and fan questions.
The Suns have consistently been one of the top teams in the Western Conference over the past several years.
While they haven’t been able to turn that regular-season success into an NBA title, the Suns are confident that if they stay the course, good things could happen to them.
Durant is among the league’s best players, and if he can stay healthy and on the roster, this team might just be able to make some noise in the next few seasons.
