The Minnesota Vikings have a new quarterback, but he still has plenty of work to do.
JJ McCarthy was one of the most polarizing prospects ahead of the NFL Draft, and he’s gotten mixed reviews during the offseason as well.
While the upside is clearly there, some agree that he’s still quite raw, which is normal for a rookie.
That’s why he’s reaching out to veterans to work out on his game ahead of his first campaign in the league.
Notably, Adam Thielen decided to show his love for his former team and gave them a helping hand by working out with their new signal-caller (via The Purple Persuasion).

Thielen is now a part of the Carolina Panthers’ organization, so he has some experience working out with inexperienced quarterbacks from his lone season with Bryce Young.
Still, he’s a fan favorite in the Twin Cities and one of the best players in recent team history.
This speaks volumes about his love for the franchise he spent most of his career with, and it’s a shame that he didn’t get to stay there for longer.
McCarthy is no longer expected to be in the mix to be the starter next season, at least not for Week 1.
The Vikings will take things slowly with their prized rookie, knowing that they have a suitable stopgap there with Sam Darnold also on the roster.
In the meantime, he has to continue polishing his game and learning the ropes of the National Football League, and who’s better to teach him that than someone who already found success in Minnesota?
