The Los Angeles Lakers may have gotten the steal of the draft.
Even if that wasn’t the case, they definitely got the most NBA-ready player in this class.
At least, that’s how former NBA player Timothy Legler feels.
Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he claimed that Dalton Knecht was a perfect fit for them.

He stated that the Philadelphia 76ers — who were on the clock right before them — might come to regret passing on Knecht at some point down the line, as he’s a plug-and-play kind of guy.
Legler stated that the Lakers can’t afford to wait for years to develop a 19-year-old because they’re still trying to win a championship with LeBron James and Anthony Davis at the helm.
Also, the fact that he gets to play for JJ Redick only makes his situation even better.
Knecht will get to play for a guy who knows how to come off screens and play off the ball better than most people in the league, and he could have a similar role in the offense.
He’ll learn from a fellow sharpshooter and shot-maker who made a living out of finding space and moving around the court to get wide-open shots.
And with LeBron’s passing and Davis drawing plenty of attention inside, he should get plenty of nice looks at the rim.
Knecht is going to be able to contribute right out of the gate, which is more than most of what all other prospects taken in the first round of the draft can say.
