The Cleveland Cavaliers made an intriguing pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
At No. 20, they went with California journeyman Jaylon Tyson, a guy who claimed to be able to play one through four.
With that in mind, Anthony Rizzo of ESPN Cleveland asked his co-host Aaron Goldhammer whether that pick meant anything for Darius Garland’s future with the organization.

Goldhammer, however, thinks it doesn’t.
He doesn’t see Tyson playing as a guard, at least next season.
Tyson has some solid ball-handling and playmaking skills for a forward, but he’s a forward nonetheless.
Despite some earlier reports, it seems like the Cavs are looking forward to running it back with Garland and Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt, and they won’t trade their former first-round pick as originally expected.
The Cavaliers have a new guy in town, Kenny Atkinson, leading the way, and he should open up their offense in ways that JB Bickerstaff failed to do.
Hopefully, that will translate into a better offensive development for Evan Mobley, who has kind of stalled on that end of the floor.
More than that, it could also mean more minutes for Emoni Bates, whose talent was only overmatched by his off-court issues and who might find more opportunities after spending most of his time with their G-League affiliate last season.
As for Tyson, he’s an intriguing and polarizing prospect that could either turn out to be a very good pickup or a head-scratching selection a couple of years down the line.
