The first night of the NBA draft did not see the league’s most prominent legacy player be scooped up by one of its franchises, but most expect that status to change in round two.

Teams chose thirty players, and it is hardly surprising that Bronny James’ name was not called.

But his father is the incomparable LeBron James, who currently stars for the Los Angeles Lakers.

NBA insider Evan Sidery noted a prediction made on the Pat McAfee Show that the Lakers are expected to select James if he is on the board at No. 55.

James only worked out for two clubs, the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, who draft just after LA in the late second round.

The Lakers are expected to draft Bronny James, if he’s available at No. 55 overall, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow.

The 19-year-old James is widely pegged as a second-round talent after one year at USC that saw him average an underwhelming 4.8 points per game in 25 outings.

Then, there was the widely publicized cardiac incident the younger James suffered during July’s preseason practices.

His father earlier expressed his desire to play on an NBA team with his son, which is certainly an understandable sentiment that any parent understands.

And though LeBron recently backed off that stance, it is still widely expected that the team will honor his wishes and give the legend the rarest of opportunities.

The word from LeBron’s camp is that no leverage is at play and the father and son are not a package deal.

But it is highly doubtful that LeBron James would leave for another city if the Lakers choose his son.

Since he has the ability to opt out of his contract soon, all eyes will be on the No. 55 choice in the NBA draft.
