Over the past few months, there’s been much speculation about what will happen to USC product Bronny James after he declares for the NBA Draft after one unimpressive year at the University of Southern California.
The consensus was that the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James needed at least one more year at the college level to improve his skills, especially on the offensive end of the basketball court.
Despite needing some polish to his overall game, Bronny James still decided to remain in the draft, and on Thursday night it became clear why he made the decision, with the Lakers selecting him with the No. 55 overall pick in the second round.
Even though the Lakers struck gold in the first round of the draft as they were able to take advantage of Dalton Knecht falling to them with the No. 17 overall, the team’s second-round pick will come with a lot of criticism and scrutiny, as it seems like a clear case of nepotism and control by LeBron James.

From cardiac arrest to being drafted less than a year later. What a come-up for Bronny. Much congratulations to him.

At this point in time, it seems as though everyone is celebrating the fact that LeBron James will make history once again, as he’ll be able to play alongside his eldest son on the professional level in Los Angeles.
However, it remains to be seen if this was a smart move by the Lakers brass as it shows who is really running things in the front office, especially after recently hiring JJ Redick, LeBron James’ friend, and podcast co-host, with no coaching experience, to be the team’s new head coach.
