With the Boston Celtics hoisting their 18th NBA championship trophy, signaling the end of another grueling campaign, it is time for the player carousel to begin in earnest.

One team that looks to continue its upward trajectory is the Houston Rockets, who staged one of the season’s better turnarounds in 2023-24.

After faltering to a 22-win season the year before following totals of only 20 and 17 victories, the Rockets vaulted up the standings to a quite respectable 41-41 record last season.

NBA Central reported, per Sam Amick and Anthony Slater, that the Rockets are strongly interested in Zion Williamson, Devin Booker and Donovan Mitchell.

The outlet cited league sources saying that Mitchell is on Houston’s radar, though he is expected to sign an extension with the Cavaliers soon.

The Suns’ Booker and the Pelicans’ Williamson, at 27 and 23, respectively, fit the description of young and talented potential additions nicely.
However, the report noted that “none of them are expected to be available anytime soon.”
There is always the possibility of a trade, and the Rockets are clearly open to the idea of whether any of their targets are on the market.
The Rockets bolstered their future draft capital with a trade this week with the Brooklyn Nets, giving them more pieces of the puzzle to work with.
Throwing more cold water on the rumor is the fact that Phoenix is not likely to be interested in trading Booker as he figures into their hopes of competing for a title next season.
Williamson’s value certainly improved when he was healthy for 70 games with the Pelicans last season, and Houston may explore that route.
