For years, Klay Thompson talked about his desire to be a Golden State Warrior for life.

That’s not something common in today’s game, but it seemed like he had a big chance to pull that off, just like Draymond Green and Stephen Curry.

Now, the fellow Splash Brother may have one foot out the door with the team, and it might not be all about money.

According to a report by Chris Haynes on NBA TV, Klay’s situation with the franchise is currently toxic.

“I believe the Warriors are probably offering him an annually, low $20M-type of contract. Is he willing to walk away from that because he feels disrespected? It looks like he is,” Haynes said.

Thompson reportedly feels disrespected and very disappointed in the way the Warriors have handled this situation.

Haynes revealed that they are likely offering him something in the ballpark of $20 million per year.

Nonetheless, given all the time and the chances they had to work something out, perhaps Thompson has every right to feel insulted and underappreciated by the team he gave everything to for more than a decade.

This would be a sad day for Warriors fans, should Thompson end up leaving.

And even if he’s no longer the player he used to be, he was still a pivotal member of the most successful time in the franchise’s history, and it feels like the front office could’ve and should’ve handled this situation a little better.
