The first major domino to fall in NBA free agency will be Paul George who opted out of his player option for the 2024-25 NBA season with the Los Angeles Clippers.

After failing to agree on an extension with the Clippers, George is set to test free agency where he’ll be seeking a four-year max deal.

Los Angeles will remain in the mix for George, though he is also set to meet with the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic in the coming days.

Both the 76ers and Magic can sign George outright using cap space, and they have the requisite talent on their rosters to talk him into a title run.

However, other teams will likely kick the tires on potentially adding George with the Utah Jazz being an unlikely suitor via Jake Fischer of Yahoo.

“The Utah Jazz have all the cap space, veteran salaries and exorbitant draft capital … to round out a roster that already features Lauri Markkanen. That appears to have been Utah’s dreamiest plot this summer … trading for one or even two more bonafide pieces to then entice George,” Fischer reported.

Another team keeping an eye on Paul George? The Jazz, reports @JakeLFischer:

Utah has plenty of young talent and assets to trade for other stars to pair with George, and they also already have an All-Star in Lauri Markkanen on their roster.

The Jazz seem better off letting their young players grow and develop, but perhaps they are looking to compete sooner rather than later.

George is the type of player that fits on any roster, and it’ll be interesting to see where he ultimately ends up.
