Heading into the NBA offseason, the New Orleans Pelicans were expected to be one of the most aggressive teams in the league, with the team’s brass, namely David Griffin, letting it be known that the franchise is intent on making moves and improving their roster.
After getting crushed by the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA playoffs, New Orleans clearly needed to make upgrades, even though the team saw superstar Zion Williamson have a solid season.
It became clear that this team didn’t stand a chance if they had to depend solely on Williamson to stay healthy and productive heading into the postseason, so New Orleans is motivated this summer to make substantial moves.
Earlier this week, the Pelicans made their first move by acquiring one-time All-Star guard Dejounte Murray in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, which was a solid move.
However, New Orleans likely isn’t stopping there as they’ll look to move Brandon Ingram and may be interested in trading for Wendell Carter Jr. of the Orlando Magic, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.

Although Carter Jr. isn’t exactly a game-changer for the Pelicans, he might be a better fit than Ingram has turned out to be since he was traded to the team as part of the blockbuster deal that resulted in superstar Anthony Davis being shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 55 games for the Magic last season, Carter Jr. averaged 11.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, shooting 52.5% from the floor and 37.4% from deep.
