As crazy as this may seem, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors are getting ready to part ways.
The Warriors wanted him to take a pay cut, but talks have been stalled or non-existent, and he’s reportedly felt disrespected by the way they handled this situation.
Apparently, it was never about the money as much as it was about respect, and it’s hard to make amends in their relationship at this point.
With that in mind, and given how many teams are reportedly interested in his services, it seems like there’s already a frontrunner to get him.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Thompson is ‘very intrigued’ with the Dallas Mavericks.
Talking on NBA TV, Haynes claimed that Thompson believes he fits their offense very well, as he knows Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving can get him plenty of wide-open shots (via Hoop Central).
Chris Haynes on Klay Thompson:
“If there is a frontrunner, I’m going to say it’s the Dallas Mavericks.”

Haynes also argued that Thompson believes he can help the Mavericks get to a whole new level, as his shooting would allow them to be a little less stagnant and iso-heavy.
The Mavericks fell short of their goal this season.
They shocked the world by reaching the NBA Finals, but Irving left plenty to be desired when it mattered the most against his former team.
Thompson, even though he lost a step last season, is one of the greatest shooters this game has ever seen, and he’d come with plenty of championship and postseason experience for a team that still needs a piece or two to get the job done.
