Roster-wise, the Los Angeles Lakers are slightly better today than they were two weeks ago.
Dalton Knecht could end up being the steal of the draft, as he’s a plug-and-play guy who could contribute right away.
Nonetheless, as great an analyst as he was, no one knows how JJ Redick will fare in his first coaching experience.
That means their chances to win an NBA championship haven’t exactly gotten bigger.
The Lakers don’t have a lot of cap space or flexibility to make big moves, which is why they will have to dig deep in the free-agent pool and scrape their way around the market to improve their roster.
Notably, NBA analyst John Fanta claims that LeBron James is well aware of that, which is why he reached out to Klay Thompson to try and recruit him to Southern California.
Talking on The Carton Show, Fanta stated that James was ‘desperate.’

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have tried to recruit a player who’s clearly not the guy he once was.
Fanta states that if we were to restart the GOAT debate, Michael Jordan would have a clear edge over him because of his six championships.
He thinks that James has realized that the clock is ticking on him and that he desperately needs to win a title now.
That makes sense.
However, if that were the case, James could’ve chosen to leave the Lakers and sign with a contender, as he’s a free agent at the end of the day.
