The Portland Trail Blazers have a long way to go before they are true playoff contenders again.

It isn’t expected that they will make many moves this summer so every single one counts.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers are signing forward Justin Minaya to a two-way contract.

That means Minaya will be playing his third season in Portland and will continue to be part of their slow rebuilding process.

The Trail Blazers were dead last in the Western Conference last season, scoring a 21-61 record.

There are a few promising young stars on the team but, aside from that, there isn’t much to be excited about with the Blazers right now.

They are trying to formulate a path forward without Damian Lillard, who left the team last summer for the Milwaukee Bucks.

A life without Lillard is not an easy one so the Blazers are attempting to rebuild their roster with young talent that can be developed over the years.

Minaya averaged 1.8 points and 1.6 rebounds during his 34 games last year, playing just a bit more than 11 minutes per game.

What will he accomplish in the new season?

Because he has a two-way contract, Minaya might be spending time in the G League as well as with the Blazers.

Therefore, it’s not clear if he will play more or less than he did last season.

It’s also not clear if the Blazers will make more changes this offseason, placing additional talent in the lineup in hopes of rising higher than the 15th seed.
