With Klay Thompson testing free agency for the first time in his career, he will have plenty of suitors around the NBA.
Most reports claim that he’s going to hear from the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Philadelphia 76ers.
However, it seems like one team is already leading the race for his services.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Lakers are just one step away from getting the four-time NBA Champion.
Talking on Get Up, he explained that the Lakers could make a trade as early as today, and that trade would push them closer to getting Thompson.

LeBron James reportedly reached out to him as soon as free agency started, and he has family ties to the organization because of his father, Mychal, a member of the Showtime team.
Nonetheless, Windhorst also states that the Mavericks are a compelling option for Thompson, as they would give him a better chance to win an NBA championship.
He argued that his fit next to Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic was better, adding that the Mavericks have a better roster than the Lakers even if they end up adding Thompson.
Both teams make perfect sense for him.
Given his quick trigger and sharpshooting skills, Thompson could be a plug-and-play kind of guy on almost every team.
It will be weird to watch him wearing another team’s threads after 13 years in the Bay area.
But he still has plenty left in the tank, and he’s going to have a huge chip on his shoulder in 2024.
