The Cleveland Cavaliers got their biggest task out of the way.
They gave up a lot to get Donovan Mitchell to Ohio, but that wasn’t enough; they had to make sure he stayed there for good.
They did so, as the former Utah Jazz star has officially agreed on a three-year contract extension worth a whopping $150.3 million, according to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The deal — negotiated by co-head of CAA basketball Austin Brown — delivers Cavs the stability of their franchise player under contract beyond next season. For Mitchell, it delivers a fast-path to the 10-year service criteria allowing him to pursue a 5-year, $380M-plus extension…

If he’s staying they should get rid of Jarrett Allen and Garland because the 2 guard 2 center thing isn’t it

But I thought he hated Cleveland, the organisation, his teammates, Moondog, the fans & everything not named New York?

Mitchell is one of the best scorers in the game, and he’s proven to be a positive leader in the locker room as well.
In his report, Woj adds that this extension provides the team financial flexibility to keep building its roster, all while giving Mitchell a chance to have a decade of service to be eligible for a five-year, $380 million extension in 2027.
For years, people thought that Mitchell was eventually going to force his way to the New York Knicks.
They were very high on him, and with him being a New York native, it just made sense.
Nonetheless, that’s not going to be the case anymore, as he’s clearly sold on the Cavaliers and their future.
Now, they have to make a decision about Darius Garland, who was rumored to be unhappy with his role next to Mitchell in the backcourt.
Still, whether they move him or not will most likely depend on his market value and what other teams might be willing to give up to get him.
