The Cleveland Cavaliers have their best player locked in for the future.

That’s great news for almost everybody, with Darius Garland being the sole exception.

Some rumors stated that Garland’s camp was unhappy with his role next to Donovan Mitchell, and they would reportedly request or even force a trade to allow him to develop somewhere else.

Nonetheless, it seems like the Cavaliers might have a tough time doing so.

Recently, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst stated that there’s not a trade market for Garland right now, adding that GM Koby Altman has been aware of that for months, even before the Atlanta Hawks traded Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans.

“I don’t think the market is there for Darius Garland… I think it’s a terrible time to trade Darius Garland,” – @WindhorstESPN.

In his latest appearance on ESPN Cleveland, Windhorst stated that this would be a terrible time to trade Garland.

He also stated that, to his knowledge, Garland has never requested to be traded, nor is he unhappy in the organization.

Granted, there are legitimate concerns about their backcourt.

Garland’s usage and efficiency have taken a bit of a dive since Mitchell arrived, and his development kind of stalled.

They’re both ball-dominant and small guards, and Garland offers little to nothing on defense.

Still, he’s a young player who could turn out to be better than he is right now, and it’s not like he can’t play or has been the main reason why they’ve fallen short of their goal.

Whatever the case, for now, the Cavs might have no choice but to run it back with their current backcourt.
