Earlier this week, there were many rumors saying the Golden State Warriors were attempting to sign Paul George, formerly of the Los Angeles Clippers.

In the end, George elected to move to the Philadelphia 76ers and now we are hearing more information about why a deal between the Warriors and Clippers wasn’t made.

According to Ramona Shelburne, per NBACentral, the Warriors were unwilling to trade Jonathan Kuminga for George.

The Warriors offered multiple other contracts for George but Los Angeles wanted Kuminga and that was something Golden State simply would not agree to.

Shelburne reports that the Warriors still view Kuminga as a big part of their future and they aren’t going to part ways with him unless they are forced to.

The team is currently attempting to come back from a really bad season that saw them fall short of making the playoffs.

They are keeping their eyes set on the present but also a not-too-distant future that is without Steph Curry.

They feel that Kumigna could lead them in the years ahead and they want to keep him around.

Even the lure of George wasn’t enough to convince them to say goodbye to Kuminga.

It’s been a busy week for the Warriors, who missed out on George and also lost Klay Thompson and Chris Paul.

What is next for the team and who will they pursue?

They obviously have a strong desire to stick with Kuminga but can they add more help for him and Steph Curry before next season begins?
