Nick Wright isn’t one to shy away from criticizing somebody in the sports world, and his recent target is an NBA general manager who he is heavily questioning in terms of their ability to run a front office in any capacity.

In the most recent episode of First Things First, Wright let it rip and didn’t hold back his thoughts on this particular GM.

The target of Wright’s wrath on this day was Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, and Wright said “What does Rob Pelinka do? And what evidence do we have that he’s good at the key things one has to do to run an NBA front office?”

Wright challenged the fact that the Lakers have lost so much talent in terms of the supporting cast since winning the championship in the bubble, as guys like Alex Caruso, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Kyle Kuzma have all been unceremoniously discarded.

He also added how Pelinka has logjammed the roster by handing out player options to entice minimum contract players, which hamstrings the team in potential trades since you cannot include multiple players like that in one package.

The Lakers have also consistently struck out in free agency, which is damning since Pelinka used to be an agent and is supposed to be good at that aspect of the job.

Wright raised some great points here, as this team hasn’t made a lot of great moves since winning the title four years ago.

After missing out on Klay Thompson and other offseason targets, it’s unclear where the Lakers turn next.
