This hasn’t been a good offseason for the Golden State Warriors.

They lost Klay Thompson and only got two second-round picks for his services.

They also waived Chris Paul, so they essentially dumped Jordan Poole for nothing.

On top of that, they were reportedly quite close to landing Paul George, but the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t want to play ball.

In the latest edition of his podcast, Draymond Green confirmed the rumors that claimed that the Warriors and George had a mutual interest in a partnership.

He revealed that the Clippers never truly wanted to engage in trade and talks, either because they didn’t want to help George get to his preferred destination or simply because they didn’t want him in the same conference (via NBA Central & Joey Linn).

Green argued that it made sense that they didn’t want him there because they knew just how good he’d be.

Nonetheless, he didn’t understand how they could rather watch him leave in free agency instead of getting something in return for his services.

George would’ve gotten to stay in California, as opposed to making a cross-country move to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Clearly, things didn’t end on good terms between him and the Clippers, and that pettiness could cost the franchise a lot down the line.
