The Los Angeles Lakers may have gotten the steal of the NBA Draft.

He wasn’t particularly the youngest player in his class, which is why he slipped all the way to No. 17 despite having an impressive season at Tennessee.

However, even if he’s not as young as some of his new colleagues, he’s still younger than the average NBA fan.

That’s why those who watched his latest interview may have felt pretty old when he made a rather surprising revelation.

Knecht revealed that his parents named him after a character from a ‘super old movie,’ adding that he watched it and it wasn’t too bad, actually (via NBA).

“It was a super old movie. I watched it, it wasn’t too bad.”

The movie he’s referring to is none other than the 1989 classic Road House.

Knecht was born in 2001, so perhaps it makes sense that he feels like it was actually a very, very old movie.

Talking about what’s actually important, Knecht should be a plug-and-play kind of guy for JJ Redick’s team.

He showed a proficient ability to knock down shots from all there levels, averaging 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in 30.6 minutes in his lone season with the Volunteers, knocking down 39.7% of his three-pointers on 6.5 shots a night.

The Lakers desperately craved a floor-spacer next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and given Knecht’s vast college experience, he could be trusted to join the rotation right away, even if it’s off the bench.
