One of the most surprising teams in the NBA during the 2023-24 campaign was, without a doubt, the upstart New York Knicks, who saw a superstar emerge in point guard Jalen Brunson while also putting together a team around him that played with heart and intensity leading to a decent run in the NBA playoffs.
With the Knicks getting a lot of attention for their success this past season, New York was bound to see some of their players cash out in NBA free agency or at least receive some interest on the open market if they chose to go that route.
After re-signing OG Anunoby to a new deal, arguably the team’s top priority this summer, the Knicks saw center Isaiah Hartenstein sign a lucrative long-term contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a costly blow to their frontcourt.
Fortunately for New York, the acquisition of Mikal Bridges in a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets overshadowed the players that left, as the Knicks could very well be a legitimate title contender in the Eastern Conference to start next season.
Along with Hartenstein cashing out this season, the Miami Heat came in and swooped up free agent Alec Burks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Unlike other heavyweights around the league, the Heat have been relatively quiet in NBA free agency this month, with Burks being one of their moves.
Although Burks isn’t much of a game-changer for Miami, the Heat could be working on landing veteran star DeMar DeRozan, who won’t be returning to the Chicago Bulls and seems to be open for business as a free agent.
