NBA free agency has only been underway for a few days, but there’s already been a seismic shift of power in the league, especially when it comes to the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.
The Clippers made what was considered a game-changer move last year by bringing in superstar guard James Harden to play alongside Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook and Paul George, which, at the time, was considered the best combination of four star players in the league.
Unfortunately for Los Angeles, the team was unable to have any success in what it was built for, the NBA playoffs, as it was beaten with relative ease by Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
In the aftermath of another disappointing postseason, the Clippers lost George in NBA free agency, with the 76ers paying him what he desired, creating another legitimate title contender in the East.
Along with landing George in free agency, arguably the biggest signing of the summer, Philadelphia is reportedly going after Caleb Martin, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia 76ers via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald and NBA Central.
“As The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey just reported, the Philadelphia 76ers have had discussions with Heat free agent Haywood Highsmith. The 76ers have also had discussions with Heat free agent Caleb Martin as they scan the free-agent market for options to fill their roster, according to a league source.”

With the 76ers having a considerable amount of cap space this summer, general manager Daryl Morey and company have the power to be a significant player in free agency and seem to be going all out with the team, believing it is in a championship window.
Adding Martin would be another step in the right direction for Philadelphia as they try to put together a roster that can contend with the reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics.
