The Charlotte Hornets don’t have a long list of legendary players.

However, Kemba Walker is most definitely one of them.

He was at his best in North Carolina, and he holds plenty of the franchise’s all-time records.

That’s why it only made sense that he came back home.

Shortly after announcing his retirement from professional basketball, the UConn product revealed that he was returning to the Hornets, this time to serve as a part of Charles Lee’s coaching staff, according to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

After retiring from a 12-year NBA career, four-time All-Star Kemba Walker is rejoining the Charlotte Hornets on new coach Charles Lee’s coaching staff as a player enhancement coach.

For twelve seasons, Walker was one of the best scoring point guards in the game, making it to four All-Star Games and becoming a fan favorite in Charlotte.

Unfortunately, his career went south almost immediately after leaving Charlotte.

His numbers were solid with the Boston Celtics, but he couldn’t establish himself later with the New York Knicks, up to the point where he had to take his talents overseas to continue his career.

Walker is one of the most beloved members of the Charlotte community, and his veteran input and insight should do wonders for a young team that seems to have lost its direction.

There have been worrisome reports about the Hornets’ seemingly unprofessional locker room, and the young players could use the guidance of someone who has been there and done that.

Walker and Lee will be instrumental in building and developing a winning culture within the organization, and it’s nice to know that he’s going to stay tied to the game after riding into the sunset.
