For years, the New Orleans Pelicans have flirted with postseason contention, but they’ve fallen short over and over.
They clearly needed a lead guard next to CJ McCollum.
However, more often than not, the fact that their best players have missed with injuries has also taken a toll on their chances.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see them look for trade suitors for Brandon Ingram.
According to a report by Marc Stein, the Pelicans won’t offer Ingram the kind of contract extension he was looking for, which is why both parties are moving on to find a trade partner.
Apparently, those talks are ‘heating up’ at the moment (via NBA Central).
Brandon Ingram’s name has been heating up in trade talks recently, and it looks like his days in New Orleans are coming to an end, per @TheSteinLine

Ingram is clearly one of the best three-level scorers in the game, and his physical traits also make him a matchup nightmare on the defensive end of the floor.
Nonetheless, he’s left plenty to be desired in key moments, not to mention the fact that he’s struggled with injuries for most of his career.
Whoever trades for Ingram will be in a tough spot.
On the one hand, he’s a very good player who could be a legitimate contributor to a championship-caliber team.
On the other hand, they will most likely have to overpay for his services in his next contract, and there are serious doubts about his durability.
That kind of limbo might make him difficult to offload by the Pelicans in the sense that they might not get as much in return as they could’ve gotten two years ago.
