The Miami Heat have lost some of their magic, at least when it comes to luring in top-notch free agents.

Pat Riley has failed to make some big moves over the past couple of years, missing out on the likes of Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, or even Bradley Beal.

Nonetheless, the Heat haven’t lost hope of pulling off a big move.

According to Heat insider Barry Jackson, the Heat have been very active in trade discussions (via NBA Central).

The team reportedly wants to keep their current salary cap flexibility in case any high-level player becomes available.

The Heat have allegedly been in touch with another team regarding a potential move, although no details were disclosed.

More than that, they’re expected to continue being a potential player for a big-time move.

The Heat have reached the NBA Finals twice since Jimmy Butler joined the team, and they have a reputation for finding and developing borderline-unknown players and turning them into legitimate rotational pieces.

Even so, and regardless of the success they’ve found despite not having the most talented roster in the game, it’s become painfully evident that they could use another star or two.

Butler has been linked to multiple potential trades since the end of the season, but it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be the case for now.

However, we’ve seen crazier things happen in this league, and Pat Riley will always do what’s best for his team, even if it’s a tough decision to make, so we’ll have to keep an eye on this story.
