The Miami Heat have stayed relatively quiet during this year’s free agency but they might be cooking up a big move in the days ahead.
According to Zach Lowe, per NBACentral, the Heat are “showing interest” in Lauri Markkanen, currently of the Utah Jazz.
The addition of Markkanen would be a very massive change for the Heat and could help them out in a big way.

Markkanen has been a sensation for the Jazz over the last two seasons, averaging 24.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
Back in 2022-23, Markkanen earned his first All-Star appearance because of the amazing work he had done for Utah and he stayed consistent in 2023-24.
Because of that, he was viewed as untouchable by most other NBA teams and nearly everyone assumed the Jazz wouldn’t move him.
But over the last few weeks, there have been growing rumors about Markkanen departing from Salt Lake City.
It seems the Jazz are just waiting for the right deal to come along, but who will deliver it?
The Heat have a few important assets that could attract the Jazz, but the team is notorious for driving a hard bargain.
That means Miami might have to give up a lot or get a third team involved if they wish to acquire Markkanen.
The Heat are coming off a disappointing season where they weren’t able to get out of the first round of the playoffs.
There has been speculation that the team could be changing things up this summer after years of mostly staying stable and unaltered.
Markkanen could bring great talent, and great size, to the Heat but they would have to work hard and give up a lot to get him.
