The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to make big changes to their lineup during the current free agency season.

Despite pleas from their fans, the Lakers haven’t acquired any other big-name players.

Because of this and other reasons, Chris Carlin doesn’t think the team will go far next season.

Sitting in on “First Take,” he said the Lakers are “more likely to miss the Play-In than make the playoffs.”

Carlin had a few reasons for this prediction.

He said that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis will miss more games next season, which would clearly hurt LA.

Additionally, the Lakers have a new head coach, JJ Redick, who has never led an NBA team before.

Finally, James hasn’t proven that he’s a good general manager.

According to Carlin and many others, James is the one pulling the strings behind the scenes and telling the front office what to do.

The Lakers have only two new players, Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

Those rookies might have some good moments in their first season but will they really be the boost the Lakers need?

LA still has time to add more talent and James, Davis, and the rest of the team could surprise in 2024-25.

But if they don’t make any changes, many fans will be very nervous about what’s to come, especially because James is getting closer and closer to retirement.

The Lakers have been part of the Play-In Tournament for years now and sometimes that has worked in their favor.

However, they obviously don’t want to be a Play-In contender forever and would love to get back into the playoffs like they used to.
