Kenny Atkinson was recently given the job of head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and is starting to formulate plans for the team.
That means he will be putting together his coaching staff as the summer goes on.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Atkinson is hard at work filling his staff with veteran NBA talent.
Wojnarowski is reporting that DeMarre Carroll has joined Atkinson’s staff with Cleveland.
Carroll played 11 seasons in the league and spent the last two years as a coach for the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.
He now comes to the Cavaliers at a very interesting time for the team.

Atkinson was handed the keys to a franchise that is good, but not great.
They have multiple great stars on the roster but have faced a number of problems, including several injuries throughout the season.
They are a team that is on the cusp of being fierce playoff contenders but it’s clear that a few changes need to be made.
Carroll will have great insight and experience to share with the team because of his 11 years in the league.
He was drafted in 2009 and played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, and others during his NBA tenure.
He is obviously a gifted leader because of his two coaching jobs and is looking to do even more with the Cavaliers.
Cleveland fans are hoping that their team will be taken to the next level in the new season.
With the hiring of Atkinson and Carroll, that may be possible.
