Over the past few years, there’s been a lot of buzz about what the NBA intends to do in terms of expanding the league, with two more teams potentially being added.
At this point in time, it seems inevitable that this expansion will indeed happen, with Las Vegas being the prime target for the NBA, considering all the success the location has had since bringing in the NHL, NFL, WNBA and soon MLB, with the Oakland Athletics planning to move to Sin City.
The Vegas Golden Knights have already won the Stanley Cup, and the Las Vegas Aces have dominated the WNBA over the past few years, winning back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.
Even though the Las Vegas Raiders haven’t had much success in their new home, Allegiant Stadium has become a hot spot with multiple sporting events hosted, the most significant being Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
With moves by the NBA seeming inevitable, current player Isaiah Thomas has some ideas about what the league should do moving forward.
Bring Sonics back, add Vegas. Move Memphis and New Orleans to eastern conference

Thomas proposes the return of the Seattle SuperSonics, adding Las Vegas to the mix, and moving both the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans to the Eastern Conference.
The return of the SuperSonics seems to be a popular take, and it can be assumed Thomas means that the league should resurrect the team back in Seattle, after it left to become the Oklahoma City Thunder following the 2007-08 season. It would undoubtedly be a welcome move with an avid fan base in a city that has been itching for the team to return.
