The Cleveland Cavaliers have several priorities this NBA offseason, one of which is to land a wing to complement the squad’s existing pieces.
The team looks to build on its strong 2023-24 season that included a trip to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
One such target is widely reported as being 6 foot 7 inch forward Dorian Finney-Smith of the Brooklyn Nets.
The 31-year-old is versatile and can fill the role of a small forward or a power forward, and his contract situation may be favorable for a deal getting done.
Finney-Smith’s current contract has two years and $30 million remaining, with the last season being a player option.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the Cavs are interested in pursuing a trade for the veteran.
Scotto added that Isaac Okoro and K.J. Martin are considered sign-and-trade candidates who could be dangled in Brooklyn’s direction to acquire Finney-Smith.
The Cavaliers and Sixers have expressed interest in trading for Dorian Finney-Smith, per @MikeAScotto (https://t.co/KHftYu0oRX).

The Nets wing is known as a long-range sniper, and almost two-thirds of his shot attempts now come from beyond the arc.
Finney-Smith in 2023-24 averaged 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 68 games with the Nets.
He entered the NBA in 2016 after playing college ball at Florida and spent nearly seven seasons toiling for the Dallas Mavericks before moving on to Brooklyn.
Finney-Smith’s high water mark for points came in 2021-22 when he averaged 11.0 points per game for the Mavs along with 1.9 assists.
This off-season’s free agent market is not stacked with talent, and Cleveland may have its sights set on the best option to bolster its lineup.
The Cavs are apparently agreeable to attach Okoro and Martin in a potential deal to land Finney-Smith’s services in Cleveland.
