Stephen Curry changed the course of NBA history.

He also got the Golden State Warriors back to relevance after decades of struggles.

However, as great a player as he is, he wouldn’t have been able to do it on his own.

Just like all legends, Curry needed a sidekick to get the job done, and that sidekick happened to be the second-best shooter in NBA history.

Now, with his fellow Splash Brother no longer in the Bay area, it only made sense that the Warriors paid tribute to Klay Thompson on social media.

13 years. Four championships. Countless iconic moments.

Thank you for everything, @KlayThompson. pic.twitter.com/6kFZmWHFbu

Thompson left the team after 13 years with the organization.

He helped them reach the NBA Finals in almost half of his seasons there (6), not to mention winning four championships.

The Warriors failed to make the playoffs in the two seasons that Thompson was out with injuries, and they won another ring as soon as he came back.

With him, Curry, Draymond Green, Steve Kerr, and — to a lesser extent — Andre Iguodala, the Warriors were the team to beat, winning before and after Kevin Durant was there.

His time in the Bay came to an end after he couldn’t reach an agreement with the team on a new deal, and he reportedly felt undervalued and disrespected by the organization he had given everything to for more than a decade.

But even if they didn’t end on good terms, he’s earned the right to have his No. 11 jersey hanging high in the rafters and a statue outside of their arena.
