Team USA isn’t here to mess around, as they stacked as much NBA talent as possible.
They even went overseas to get some reinforcements, giving Joel Embiid an opportunity to suit up for them.
That’s why, when asked about this team, Kevin Durant had no choice but to admit that it was the deepest team he had ever played for.
In a recent interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Durant claimed that expectations for Team USA will always be the same in the sense that they’re expected to win and dominate every game.
“It’s the deepest team i’ve played on. … Everybody is the guy on their team.”

However, even though he had already played for some stacked USA teams, this was different because everybody was ‘the guy’ on their teams.
He’s right on point, as he’s joined by the likes of Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday, and Jayson Tatum.
Perhaps the only player on that list who is not their team’s alpha dog is Jrue Holiday, and maybe Bam Adebayo and we’re still talking about two of the best defensive players in the game, not to mention two guys who can also get their points if need be.
As we’ve seen in the league, international players and teams are getting better by the day, and the talent gap has clearly gotten narrower.
That’s why USA Basketball didn’t want to take any risks and looked to assemble this flawless team after another disappointing outing in the FIBA World Cup.
