To say that the Sacramento Kings haven’t been the most successful franchise in the league could be a bit of an understatement.
They’ve struggled to stay competitive more often than not, but there was a time when they were actually one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference.
During that time, they also happened to be one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the league.
Notably, that came with the ever-underrated Mike Bibby running the point for them.
While most people remember Jason Williams’ flashy moves and passes, Bibby was the one who took the reins of the team and took them to the next level.
That’s why, now that he’s looked to stay close to the organization where he spent seven years, he officially started his campaign to get his jersey number retired.
Talking to Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller on their The OGs Show, he hinted at the fact that Domantas Sabonis switched his jersey number from No. 10 to No. 11, so perhaps that’s a sign of things to come for Bibby and the Kings.

Bibby had the best years of his career in Sacramento, especially in the playoffs, and he led them to the postseason in five of the seven seasons he was there.
He averaged 17.6 points and 5.4 assists per game for them, and while those numbers aren’t eye-popping by today’s standards, he was one of the key contributors to one of the best eras in franchise history, so they should at least give this thought some consideration.
