The Los Angeles Lakers had plenty of fans tuning in on the California Classic and the NBA Summer League to watch Bronny James’ debut.

It was an underwhelming first taste of NBA action for LeBron James’ son, as he struggled mightily with his shot.

Then, he raised some alarms after sitting out the following game with knee inflammation, as that’s not particularly a great sign, especially from a 19-year-old.

That’s why renowned NBA insider Rachel Nichols wanted to make something loud and clear: Summer League doesn’t matter.

On the latest edition of Undisputed, the former ESPN hostess reminded everybody that the Summer League is pretty much meaningless, and it’s all about the intangibles and getting the players ready for what’s to come.

With that in mind, she thinks that Bronny’s poor debut was meaningless, as there have been multiple All-Stars who have struggled in Summer League and went on to dominate when it counted and vice versa.

The same goes for his injury, as these games aren’t that important.

Truth be told, Nichols is right on point, and people shouldn’t care about the box score as much as they care about what doesn’t always show there, such as body language, defensive impact, basketball IQ, and whatnot.

Unfortunately for Bronny, his shot-selection and decision-making weren’t good either, but it’s just one Summer League game.

Then again, the expectations for the No. 55 pick shouldn’t be much different, not even if we’re talking about LeBron James’ son.
