The NBA Summer League is just getting started and is giving players chances to shine, albeit under lights that aren’t as bright as the regular season.

The Golden State Warriors have won two consecutive games and one player has been doing incredible work: Ethan Thompson.

According to Legion Hoops, Thompson has been “tearing it up” in the Summer League so far, scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds in his first game and 22 points and 11 rebounds in his second.

Will this be enough to earn him a spot in the NBA?

The Oregon State star got the crowd on its feet during the second game, with an expert steal and slam dunk that helped pave the way for another massive Warriors win.

For two games in a row, Thompson has been the leading scorer for Golden State in the Summer League.

After his 27-point explosion on Saturday night, Thompson earned a spot in the starting lineup for the second game on Sunday.

But just because he’s doing well doesn’t mean he will be with the Warriors when the new season kicks off.

The team has one more roster void to fill so the coaching staff and front office are paying close attention to who is performing the best during Summer League.

If Thompson keeps showing up in a big way during these games, he could get a small two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.

This is what the Summer League is all about: it’s a chance for young, up-and-coming stars to show their skills and potentially find a way into the league.

Thompson is 25 years old and has been playing for a while but he’s doing best now and that might make him a full-time Warrior.
