The Denver Nuggets lost a key contributor to their championship when Bruce Brown walked away and joined the Indiana Pacers.

Then, the same thing happened a couple of weeks ago, as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope left to sign with the Orlando Magic.

Nonetheless, it’s not time to panic.

At least, not according to NBA insider Harrison Wind.

Wind took to Twitter to put an end to all the frenzy and desperation about the Nuggets’ offseason, pointing out the fact that they already got one of their two targets (Dario Saric) and that they were on track to get the other one (Russell Westbrook).

Losing KCP sucks. There’s no way around that. But ever since it feels like there’s been a rush to panic about the Nuggets’ offseason — like Denver’s quiet start to free agency. Their two targets were Dario Saric and Russell Westbrook. They got one and are on track to get both.

Westbrook picked up his player option for the 2024-25 season, doing the Clippers a favor.

Unbeknownst to him, the Clippers would later make him available for trade in the aftermath of Paul George’s departure.

Westbrook is going to make roughly over $4 million next season, which was a reasonable price to stay home in Los Angeles.

Still, despite not being the player he used to be, he still likely could’ve gotten more than that in the free-agent market.

Now, he’s pretty much at the Clippers’ disposition, and it seems like they don’t have plans for him in the future.

The Nuggets parted ways with Reggie Jackson, leaving the door wide open for someone to take the reins of the second unit.

Needless to say, they could do a whole lot worse than giving that spot to a former MVP and scoring champion, pairing Nikola Jokic with the other triple-double king still in the league.
