The San Antonio Spurs made a very intriguing addition this offseason by signing future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul.

After one season with the Golden State Warriors, the 12-time All-Star is heading to play for legendary head coach Gregg Popovich and with ascending big man Victor Wembanyama.

Warriors forward Draymond Green gave a recent take on his podcast about his former teammate joining San Antonio.

“That is a genius move by the Spurs,” Green told listeners of “The Draymond Green Show.”

Green also illustrated how great a move he thinks this will be for Wembanyama.

Paul is 39 years old, so his prime years as a player are behind him. But the fact that he is going into his 20th NBA season could help Wembanyama a lot. The veteran is a fantastic floor general who has the ability to make everyone around him better.

Wembanyama is already a superstar in the making, which means that he and Paul could have a field day in the pick-and-roll game.

The 7-foot-4 Frenchman led the league at 3.6 blocks per game as a rookie last season. The 20-year-old also averaged 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

Paul only signed a one-year deal with San Antonio, but that very well could be enough time to help Wembanyama become one of the more complete big men in the league.

The Spurs are coming off a second straight 22-win season, so signing Paul won’t make them title contenders necessarily, but it can help a young team mature a bit faster.
