NBA fans haven’t seen much of Wenyen Gabriel lately and the big man last played for the Memphis Grizzlies last season for only five games.
Now Gabriel is moving overseas.
According to Evan Sidery, Gabriel is signing an overseas deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, which includes an option year for 2025-26.

Gabriel has an NBA career average of 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.
During his five years in the league, he played for the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and finally the Grizzlies.
He never stayed with one team for very long and his lengthiest tenure was with the Lakers during the 2022-23 season.
During that season, he scored a career-high 5.5 points as well as 4.2 rebounds.
Gabriel is just one of many NBA stars who has moved overseas in hopes of finding more success in his career.
Over the last few years, the foreign market has grown and attracted more and more talented players, including some formerly big stars from the NBA.
How much luck will Gabriel have playing in Israel and is there a chance of him ever coming back to the league?
His story is yet another example that the international basketball market is growing every single year.
Decades ago, there weren’t nearly as many places for players to move to.
But times have changed and now there are quite a few locations where NBA stars can go after their careers in the United States come to an end.
Gabriel’s time with the NBA is over after five years but there is a chance he could return if his tenure in Israel is successful.
