The expectations around Bronny James are sky-high even though everyone agrees he won’t ever reach the heights of his legendary father

During his recent Summer League appearances, James has played with heart, speed, and good defense, but he also hasn’t produced many points.

On Thursday’s “Undisputed,” Skip Bayless said that’s not surprising because James “doesn’t work” in Summer League.

Calling James a “cog who blends in with the big dogs,” Bayless stated that James might have more luck when the regular season kicks off in the fall.

Bayless stated that James’ game just doesn’t work well in the Summer League, which is typically a chance for players to show off their skills and earn the attention of scouts, coaches, and foreign teams.

Typically, games aren’t really team efforts but instead opportunities for individual players to show off and shine.

James is a team player, Bayless said.

If he is a part of a team, he can do well but will have trouble if he is tasked with doing everything on his own.

He isn’t like his father and is not capable of leading a team, Bayless said.

Instead, he will work best when he’s just one of many and embracing his role as a “cog” alongside the “big dogs.”

But will he be able to play with the big dogs in the regular season?

What are the chances of James getting a lot of time on the floor with the rest of the Lakers?

There is a strong probability that he will be in the G League often and might get a few minutes here and there during regular Lakers games.

In other words, it might be some time before James can perform in a strong team dynamic.
