The 2024 NBA Draft was filled with surprises throughout both nights of action.

Some players were drafted a lot higher than many of the top analysts predicted, and others were drafted lower than expected.

Devin Carter was a polarizing prospect heading into the draft, but he ended up going 13th overall to the Sacramento Kings.

This was seen as a reach to some, but Carter is hoping to defy the odds and become a meaningful player on their roster.

He’ll have to start his career by bouncing back from a shoulder surgery, which he recently went through, as Clutch Points highlighted on Twitter.

According to Carter via Clutch Points, he is slated to fully recover, “and a medical update will be provided in approximately six months.”

Kings lottery pick Devin Carter underwent successful left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, the team says.

It is unclear when Carter will make his NBA debut, but at this moment in time, the Kings are seemingly just happy that Carter’s surgery went well, and that he will be available at some point in the future.

The Kings are working hard on their rebuild, hoping to find players to mesh well with De’Aaron Fox down the stretch.

Fox has gained a lot of respect and notoriety over the years for his improved play, and having him as this team’s cornerstone seems to be the direction they are leaning.

Hopefully, Carter can join him at some point in the 2024-2025 season, and they can get back to a position where they are at least competing for a playoff spot every year.
