New York City, in a lot of ways, is the center for sports and entertainment.
So, when former New York athlete and NFL MVP Boomer Esiason says who the most beloved New York athlete is, people are going to want to listen in.
“I would say that Jalen Brunson may be the most popular athlete in the city right now as we speak,” Esiason recently stated while on WFAN Sports Radio.

Right now, with the way that the Knicks are playing and with the way Brunson has handled himself, this is a very fair take from Esiason.
Brunson made his first All-Star appearance this season and has guided the Knicks to back-to-back playoff appearances.
The former national champion at Villanova most recently guided the club to its first 50-win season since the 2012-2013 season.
He set career-highs this year in games started (77), PPG (28.7), and APG (6.7).
Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, as Esiason noted, is also a very popular player.
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is a big-time player.
Football players such as Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson on the Jets are quite popular too.
Perhaps, if he delivers on bringing the city a championship, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers could find his way into that group too.
But at the end of the day, with what Brunson has done with his team recently, there is no doubt he deserves the mantle of most beloved player.
