DeMar DeRozan is one of the most talked-about players in the NBA and a well-respected star but is he actually a “scorer”?

Former NBA star Rashad McCants doesn’t think so.

Speaking on “The Gils Arena Show,” per NBACentral, McCants stated that DeRozan is a talented player but not the definition of a scorer because he cannot create points in “a variety of manners.”

McCants stated that a scorer is someone who is given the ball and trusted to make a bucket, regardless of the situation and the state of the game.

From all over the court and in a number of ways, scorers get the job done and are always reliable.

McCants doesn’t think that describes DeRozan.

Last season, DeRozan scored 24 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 48% from the field for the Chicago Bulls.

It ended up being his last season in Chicago and DeRozan recently moved to the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings are hoping that he can score a lot because they are counting on DeRozan’s shooting abilities, experience, and expertise.

He will now be a seasoned veteran tasked with guiding a youthful up-and-coming team.

Many fans will take issue with McCants’ claim that DeRozan isn’t a scorer.

They will say he has helped out his teams again and again, especially in clutch situations.

An average of 24 points per game is impressive and shows that DeRozan can really lead his squad, no matter what McCants thinks.

Will DeRozan silence his critics in the new season and become a definitive scorer for the Kings?
