After years of speculation, the Los Angeles Lakers made history when they selected Bronny James with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, pairing him with his father LeBron James.
LeBron and Bronny are the first father-son teammates in NBA history, a fitting story for the Lakers who are known to chase after storylines.
Bronny’s professional career has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start, though, as he has struggled to score offensively during Summer League.
The USC product had his best two-way game against the Houston Rockets to open the Las Vegas Summer League, but he is still leaving some production on the table.
Although there will certainly be a moment where LeBron and Bronny share the floor together during the 2024-25 NBA season, the latter is likely to spend most of his time down in the G League with the South Bay Lakers.
However, Bronny is happy to go wherever as long as he sees the court via Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times.
“I’m just looking forward to any basketball I play – no matter what level I’m playing at,” Bronny said.

By all accounts, Bronny’s shown a level of maturity and self-awareness that is rare for players his age and LeBron should be proud of how he’s handled himself.
The young guard is likely just happy to be playing again after going into cardiac arrest last summer, and South Bay is the perfect place to let him develop behind the scenes instead of the bright lights at Crypto.com Arena.
