The Miami Heat have a great eye for talent and diamonds in the rough.

Whether they take them in the NBA Draft or find them somewhere else, Erik Spoelstra and his coaching staff have a knack for eyeing players who seem to be perfect fits for their system.

Moreover, they’re not the kind of team that won’t draft a player just because he’s a little older.

If anything, that might even help their case.

Notably, that was the case when they took Jaime Jaquez Jr. out of UCLA last season.

It didn’t take long before he established himself as a steady part of the rotation, and it seems like he could be in for an even bigger role next season.

As shown by the NBA on Twitter, Jaquez Jr. was on a roll in the team’s win in the NBA 2K Summer League, scoring 29 points to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists, and one steal.

Of course, given the fact that he’s already spent one year in the league, the game moved significantly slower for him than for most of the other players on the court.

For years, people have talked about how much Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo could use another star, and while the Heat initially hoped Tyler Herro would turn out to be that player, perhaps Jaquez Jr. could take his place.

He’s got great footwork, and he plays hard on both ends of the floor.

And while he might not be able to put up 29 points a night, he can definitely do a little bit of everything and fill up the stat sheet.
