The New England Patriots have failed to land Tom Brady’s successor, but it’s not like they haven’t tried.
They went after a former MVP in Cam Newton, and while it seemed like that gamble could’ve paid off big time, it later became painfully evident that injuries had taken a major toll on his game.
Then, Mac Jones showed glimpses of promising play and looked like the heir apparent before he lost his starting job.
That’s why Jones might not particularly be a big fan of Coach Belichick.
With that in mind, Newton tried to get him to trash his former coach when he spotted him at the ESPYs.
As shown by Dov Kleiman on Twitter, Newton tried to get Jones’ thoughts on Belichick dating 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, and while Jones laughingly stated that it was good for him, Newton claimed that he didn’t approve of that relationship.

Of course, Newton is known for his playful and unapologetic nature, and it’s not like he’s got anything to lose after what he accomplished in the league.
Jones, on the other hand, might not even get another opportunity to be a starter.
Now, as Trevor Lawrence’s backup with his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars, what was once a promising career might not be anymore, but it seems like he holds no grudges towards his former boss.
