The great Albert Einstein once said that insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, but some NBA teams may not have gotten that memo.
At least, the Phoenix Suns didn’t.
They traded Chris Paul away last season and didn’t get any suitable replacements.
Of course, there’s no such thing as replacing Chris Paul, but they didn’t even get a pass-first or classic point guard to help them run their offense.
That’s why it was hardly surprising to see them struggle so much to close out games and get an offensive rhythm going during the playoffs.
Instead of addressing that issue, the Suns fired coach Frank Vogel, replaced him with Mike Budenholzer, and gave him essentially the very same roster with the very same flaws.
Nonetheless, GM James Jones isn’t worried about that.
When asked about it, he challenged people to find a point guard who they could feasibly get and that would be better with the ball in his hands than Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, or Devin Booker (via SiriusXM NBA Radio).
“If you could find me a point guard that you’d rather have the ball in his hands over Devin, Kevin, and Brad, sign me up”

That would be a valid point if basketball was an individual sport, but it isn’t.
The Suns have three injury-prone scorers who can create for others but aren’t natural playmakers, and they shouldn’t have to be asked to be in that position to begin with.
