Jalen Brunson is really committed to the New York Knicks and proved it last week when he accepted a very team-friendly $157 million deal that came with a massive pay cut for him.
He could have earned a lot more but Brunson decided to accept less money in hopes of helping his team achieve more and improve the roster in the years ahead.
On Tuesday’s “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce was shocked by Brunson’s move and could hardly believe it.
“You left $113 million on the table? That doesn’t even sound right,” Pierce said before claiming that the Knicks must surely be paying Brunson under the table or giving him some other incentives.

Keyshawn Johnson pushed back, telling Pierce that Brunson has proved he believes in the Knicks for the long-term future.
The money New York saved with this deal could add supreme talent to the roster, allowing for massive contracts for big stars.
It might also set a precedent for other players on the team.
Perhaps other Knicks stars will now accept smaller deals as a way to give the front office more flexibility.
And maybe players across the league will follow Brunson’s lead.
This big choice could affect the rest of the Knicks and possibly other NBA squads.
No matter what, it sends a message to the Knicks and their millions of fans: Brunson is completely devoted to the team and will do whatever it takes to win.
With this one choice, he has earned the loyalty and love of New York forever.
